The Aliens Among Us

I've been thinking about that last question, and I feel like I overlooked something in my answer.

No, slugs are not aliens. You know who might be? Bats.

Come on, don't tell me you don't get an otherworldly chill when you hear the word "colony" in reference to their family dwellings. Don't get me wrong, I have no problem with bats. Not too many "bat eats slug" headlines in the news; in general, we get along all right. I'm just saying that if any of you out there are feeling inclined toward alien inquiry, perhaps you ought to look toward the anomalous flying mammal rather than a gastropod with an extensive terran family tree.
